Turkey is going to save millions of Euros…

Metro Istanbul carried out domestic manufacturing of traction transformer project to provide energy for metros and trams. This project will help Turkey to save millions of Euros.
Metro Istanbul which is an affiliate of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, achieved a great success that will provide significant benefits to the national economy as well as Istanbul. Metro Istanbul carried out manufacturing project of traction transformer that provide energy for vehicles that are used in metro, tram and light rail system lines. Domestic manufacturing ratio of transformer was only %3 and traction transformer ratio was %0 at Metro Istanbul by 2017 this why works are carried out to increase domestication of relevant transformers. The project is finished by September 2019 and 2 of these transformers were installed at Transformer Centre of M1 Yenikapi-Ataturk Airport Metro Line.
 

Manufacturing at This Capacity for the First Time in Turkey …
Traction transformers that are used in the lines operated by Metro Istanbul were supplied by Italian, German and Spanish originated companies up to this date. Metro Istanbul consulted with the domestic companies in 2017 and examined their production capacities then closed a deal with a local company and a contract was signed for domestic manufacturing of traction transformer with the power of 3.3 MVA for the first time in Turkey.
 

Cost of 2 Transformers are Hundreds of Thousands Euros …
Metro Istanbul provided support to the manufacturing company with its experience in rail systems and the Company manufactured and commissioned the transformers free of charge in return. When the previous purchases are taken into account and total cost of the transformers installed in M7 Kabatas-Mahmutbey Metro Line are calculated, it can be seen that when these traction transformers are domestically manufactured and used in Turkey, this project is going to contribute to the national economy with millions of Euros in the following years.
