Serving over 3 million passengers a daily on a line length of 241,35 km consisting of 18 separate systems with 235 stations and 1015 cars, Metro Istanbul is the biggest intercity rail systems operator in Turkey and in the region. Metro Istanbul has been operating rail systems since 1988 in Istanbul and the company strengthens its expertise and know-how by following innovative technologies and developments. Sharing its expertise in business management with new personnel through in-house trainings thanks to its well-trained personnel, and it can quickly address any potential negative situation on newly commissioned lines thanks to this capability.
In order to be ready for the physical and operational challenges of each of the metro, tram, funicular and cable car systems, Metro Istanbul keeps its operational units constantly active through training, simulation and drills. 4 main operational areas were created in the corporate structure with the renewed service vision; and each operational area carries out the commissioning of rolling stock and stations of lines under its responsibility, preparing and supervising the staff employed there, organization of voyages which is the unseen but vital part of the operation, and timely operation according to the timetables.
All operations under Metro Istanbul are in constant contact with units including Istanbul Police Department, Istanbul Firefighting Department and AKOM (Disaster Coordination Centre), and anything that could negatively affect operations must be immediately addressed.
