Painter Who Sees the World in His Fingertips is at the Metro

There is no obstacle for Metro Istanbul
 
Metro Istanbul organised an event at Yenikapi Metro Station within the context of “disability week” with the motto of “There is no obstacle for us”. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of People with Disabilities organised events with the participation of disabled people’s band ISEMX and world famous visually impaired painter Esref Armagan who reflects the three dimensional notion and colours by feeling them with his fingertips.
 
Opening ceremony of the exhibition initiated by Secretary General of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Hayri Baracli, General Manager of Istanbul Metro Kasim Kutlu and the famous painter Esref Armagan together. Secretary General of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Hayri Baracli indicated that “we consider the needs of the disabled people while we are carrying out our operations to execute our service mentality”. General Manager of Metro Istanbul Kasim Kutlu indicated that there are disabled people amongst the corporate personnel of Metro Istanbul and said that “we organised these events to raise awareness to the needs of the disabled people”. Kasim Kutlu continued his speech by adding that “some of our corporate personnel consist of disabled people who are a part of a big family that reaches out to 2 million people every day and we work really hard to increase the accessibility in transportation. Our mayor gave us the authority to use any resources to improve means of transportation for the disabled people”. 
 
Esref Armagan who is a world famous painter, born visually impaired told about the stories of his artworks and traced the metro station onto a paper. Later on who took his seat on the driver’s cab and drove the metro in Yenikapi – Sishane direction. Esref Armagan was accompanied by Metro Istanbul General Manager Kasim Kutlu while Mr. Armagan was making announcements in a humoristic way. The Painter Armagan made suggestions to the disabled people and their families who are weary of life. At the end of the event Mr. Armagan presented Mr. Baracli one of his artworks and signed it and Mr. Baracli presented flowers to Mr. Armagan in return.
