Istanbul Loved 24 Hours Transportation
Metro in Istanbul renders 24 hours services at weekends and public holidays. Practice began in 30th August and people of Istanbul shown great interest to this practice.
Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Imamoglu announced that metro services are going to be provided in 24 hours basis during weekends and public holidays. This practice began with 30th August Victory Day in 6 lines. Metro services began at 06:00 in 29th August Thursday and ended at 01:00 in 1st September Sunday with an hour of extension because of Fenerbahce-Trabzonspor football match. Metro provided 91 hours uninterrupted service to the people of Istanbul with this practice.

People of Istanbul shown great interest in using night metro practice in M1A Yenikapi-Ataturk Airport, M1B Yenikapi-Kirazli, M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman, M4 Kadikoy-Tavsantepe, M5 Uskudar-Cekmekoy and M6 Levent-Bogazici University/Hisarustu Metro Lines. Services were rendered to 13,288 people at Friday night and 22,362 people at Saturday night.
Citizens were pleased with the practice and added that 24 hours transportation practice is not a luxury for the people of Istanbul but a necessity for a city that is alive for 24 hours.

An Istanbulite, Kadir Ortasac said that “I am grateful for this service which is provided by our municipality” and added “ our metro is open for 24 hours and it is coming up to 03:00 AM and I am going back to my home easily”.
Another Istanbulite who happens to be going back home at late hours because of his job said that “Night Metro is a great convenience for the people who work at night. My home is at Pendik district and I can go home very easily”.
