International Marmara Urban Forum
International Marmara Urban Forum is going to be organised for the first time in between October 1st and 3rd 2019 in Istanbul with the participation of more than 200 speakers from 25 different countries. There will also be more than 100 mayors amongst over 3000 participants in the forum who will be debating about the issues such as immigration, climate change, urban technologies, innovation, public sphere and cities. Marmara Urban Forum brings all shareholders of the city like NGO representatives, academicians and technological institutions from Turkey and from the world together on the same ground. There are going to be panels, simultaneous sessions, interviews, round table meetings, workshops, auditions, exhibitions, contests and technical visits during the forum that is going to last for 3 days.
Union of Marmara Region Municipalities is going to organise Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF) once in every two years with the aim of creating an Istanbul centred urban forum that is going to be a global brand in city planning in Turkey. MARUF is going to be organised for the first time in between 1st and 3rd October, 2019 in Istanbul Convention Centre to bring all shareholders that take major part in designing, transformation and management of cities together to evaluate different approaches in urban services and urban management. The event is going to be organised once in every two years and is going to offer a common ground for more than 3000 participants and over 200 speakers from 25 different countries to share their knowledge, experience and opportunities together.
“SOLUTION PRODUCING CITIES”
MARUF is organised with the motto of “Solution Producing Cities” in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals to offer a common ground for different people to share local and global experiences and debate on problems of the cities as well as their importance and functions. The event aims to study the economic, political, social and ecological problems and changes on individuals and societies caused by urbanisation process and seeks to find solutions in local, regional, national and international level with cooperation and collaboration.
12 DIFFERENT THEMES
MARUF offers a detailed perspective to cities with its wide vision consisting of 12 themes and these are; environment and climate change, urban technologies and innovation, transportation and mobility, urban infrastructure, housing, environment, immigration, urban networks, local growth, social comprehensiveness, resilience, public sphere and governance.
MARUF is set off with the aim of strengthening the role of local administrations and cities in the events of human mobility and crises caused by various reasons, improving public awareness on safe, inclusive, resilient and sustainable urbanisation, contributing to create more habitable and equalitarian cities, providing information flow in between cities and urban-regions and supporting relationship networks in between cities.
MARUF is in partnership with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs, IKSV, UNDP Turkey, Swedish Institute, WRI Turkey Sustainable Cities, UITP, Turkish Association of Municipalities as well as many municipalities of Marmara Region, Development Agencies and universities. Consultative Committee and Executive Committee of the event is consisting of many competent individuals from Turkey and the globe. Turkish Radio and Television Association and TRT World are undertaking media partnership of the organisation.
