84 thousand people stood in silent homage for Atatürk In Istanbul's metro and trams !
On the 84th anniversary of the demise of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, Istanbul's metro and trams witnessed emotional moments. Istanbulites using the metro and trams in the early hours of the morning were greeted with a commemoration of Atatürk, accompanied by the song “Yiğidim Aslanım” by “Zülfü Livaneli”.
84 thousand people sang the National Anthem in unison.
At 09:05, all trains stopped at 195 stations on 17 lines operated by Metro Istanbul, one of the affiliate companies of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). The National Anthem was sung after a minute of silence with the participation of 84 thousand people who were on the stations, metros and trams at that time, along with the announcement made at the stations and inside the vehicles.
