Students traveled 131,095,249 times on Istanbul's metro and trams
Metro Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), announced that 42.32 percent of its passengers in the first half of the 2022-2023 academic year consisted of students. Between September 12 and January 20, students traveled by metro and tram lines 131,095,249 times.

From Monday, September 12, when the schools opened, to January 20, students traveled a total of 131,095,249 times on the rail system lines operated by Metro Istanbul.
M2 line hosted the most students
The line carrying the most students was the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line with 29.719.634 journeys.The M2 line was followed by the M1 Yenikapı-Ataturk Airport/Kirazlı Metro Line with 20.207.584 journeys. The tram line carrying the most students was the T1 Kabatas-Bagcilar Tram Line with 15.349.610 journeys.
Favorite lines of students
In addition, in the first half of the 2022-2023 academic year, the favorite lines of the students are; M5 Üsküdar-Çekmeköy, M6 Levent-Boğaziçi Ü./Hisarüstü, M7 Yıldız-Mahmutbey, M8 Bostancı-Dudullu metro lines, F4 Boğaziçi Ü./Hisarüstü-Aşiyan Funicular Line and TF1 Maçka-Taşkışla Cable Car Line.More than half of the passengers using these lines were students.
The most frequent travel time for students was between 07.00 and 09.00. The share of students among the passengers using all lines in this time zone was 50 percent.
