Istanbul Welcomes 109 New Female Train Drivers…

109 female train driver candidates started training in Metro Istanbul. General Manager Ozgur Soy underlined the importance of train driving after meeting with the candidates before the training, and said, “People's lives are entrusted to you. That is why our education standards are very high. ”

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Affiliate Metro Istanbul is the largest urban rail transport systems operator in Turkey. Metro Istanbul expands its workforce by recruiting new train drivers. Company is also aiming to increase women's employment within Metro Istanbul and this is why 109 female train drivers started their training.

“We want women to be more involved in business life…”
Candidates met Metro Istanbul General Manager Ozgur Soy at breakfast before starting their training. General Manager Ozgur Soy expressed that train-driving training is one of the most important initiatives of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. General Manager Ozgur Soy underlined the importance of women's employment and said, "We want women to be more involved in business life, especially in IMM and we want them to be in much better positions."

“People's lives are entrusted to you…”
Emphasising the importance of train driving, General Manager Ozgur Soy said, “People's lives are entrusted to you. You will carry thousands of people who take the train that you use every day. That is why our education standards are very high. For this reason, I have to congratulate all of you and applaud you but I would like to remind you that a very challenging education process is waiting for you”. Underlining that the candidates must work hard and concentrate well in order to complete their training process, General Manager Soy said: “There is no reason not to be successful if you devote yourself to this job and want this job in your heart. I can see that light in your eyes, I can see that ambition and I wish you all success in your training. ”

Technical and theoretical training for 4 months…
Metro Istanbul renders fast and comfortable transportation to more than 2 million Istanbul residents every day and it undergoes an intensive training for train drivers who will serve within the company. Candidates are selected from the applications made at kariyer.ibb.istanbul website then they attend the Train Drivers Training Program that lasts 4 months. Train drivers start their jobs by taking their badges when they complete their training successfully after this challenging technical and theoretical training.
