Metro Istanbul will host the world public transport sector!
Metro Istanbul, an affiliate of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), will host the UITP Turkey Conference organised by International Association of Public Transport (UITP) with the theme of "Financial, Business and Operational Continuity after the Pandemic in the Eurasian Region".

Metro Istanbul will host the conference on June 15th with the theme of "Financial, Business and Operational Continuity after the Pandemic in the Eurasian Region".
The conference, where experts from different countries will share their experiences, will present a unique opportunity to discuss the present and future of public transport and to meet with international sectoral leaders.
"Our goal is to be in top 3 in Europe!"
Ozgur Soy, General Manager of Metro Istanbul, representing the public transportation sector in Turkey at the UITP Policy Board, stated that they operate one of the largest rail system networks in Europe with their rapidly increasing metro investments in the recent years and that they are in cooperation with UITP in many areas.
In particular, the Sustainable Transportation Master Plan and Climate Action Plan announced by IMM correspond to UITP's vision, General Manager Soy said, "Istanbul is one of the cities with the largest public transportation systems in the world. The problems and agendas of all metropolises are very similar. We personally experienced how important it is to share information between rail systems operators during the pandemic period. UITP is the most important platform in the world to ensure communication between operators. Therefore, we will continue to increase our cooperation with UITP".
Noting that despite the economic bottleneck in our country and the world in the last two years, General Manager Ozgur Soy stated that they continued their investments without slowing down, "In October 2020, we commissioned M7 Mecidiyekoy-Mahmutbey Metro Line and in January 2021, T5 Cibali-Alibeykoy Coach Station Tram Line. Then, in May 2021, we presented the Masko and Bahariye stations of M9 Atakoy-Olimpiyat Metro Line to the service of Istanbul residents. In this process, we have completed our investments for F4 Rumeli Hisarustu-Asiyan Funicular Line and M8 Bostanci-Dudullu Metro Line, and we will commission them in the near future. We are working day and night to become one of the top 3 rail operators in Europe in a very short time as a large and exciting team, led mainly by our Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and Our Deputy Secretary General Pelin Alpkokin".
