Construction of Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro Line Recommences!
Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Imamoglu gave instructions on recommencing the construction works of Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro Line that was halted for two years. The mentioned line is 10, 9 km long and consisting of eight stations. Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is going to be operated for the first time in the project after a ceremony that is going to take place on 26th November.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality recommences an unfinished project that will ease the road traffic in the Asian side of the city and decrease the passage of vehicles in between European and Asian sides. Works on Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro Line was halted two years ago and it is going to recommence in the following days.
Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is going to be operated for the first time to start the excavation at Abdurrahman Gazi Metro Station construction site after a ceremony on Tuesday 26th November at 11:00 with the participation of the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Imamoglu.
Main line tunnels of the metro system are going to be opened with TBM, platforms of the six stations are going to be opened with New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) and ticket halls are going to be on cut and cover basis. Platforms and ticket halls of the remaining two stations are going to be completely on cut and cover basis.
Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro Line that is the continuation of Uskudar-Umraniye-Cekmekoy Metro Line in a way will have Meclis Mahallesi, Sarigazi (Integration Station), and City Hospital, Abdurrahman Gazi, Samandira, Veysel Karani, Hasanpasa and Sultanbeyli stations respectively. The relevant metro line is going to end at roadside of Sultanbeyli TEM highway.
Relevant metro line is going to have a capacity to carry 64, 8 thousand passenger in one direction in 16 minutes journey time on a 10, 9 km long route that will have 8 stations. Metro line is going to be constructed with the latest technology with fully automated driverless metro and screen doors at platforms. Fully automatic mechanical car park with a capacity of 336 cars is going to be constructed at Samandira Station to encourage the people to use metro.
Deutsche Bank gave loan for Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro Line after the agreement made in October 2019. The relevant metro line is expected to be operational on the last quarter of 2022.
The project commenced on May 2017, halted on 29 December 2017 by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and recommenced on March 2018. Construction was halted again on October 2018 because of the delays on the payments of progress billing. Physical production on metro line is about % 6.
