Metro Istanbul Summer School produced its first graduates !

Metro Istanbul, one of the affiliate companies of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), opened its doors to children and their parents this summer. A ceremony was organised for 252 children and their mothers who participated in the "Metro Istanbul Summer School" by the company in Esenler compound between 27 June and 26 August to give the children their certificates.

Turkey's largest urban rail system operator, Metro Istanbul organised "Metro Istanbul Summer School" program for the first time this year by, between 27 June and 26 August in Esenler compound where Children who participated in the Summer School received their certificates at a ceremony.

At the ceremony where 252 children and their families were hosted, Metro Istanbul General Manager and deputy general managers, representatives of IMM affiliate companies and institutions distributed their certificates and gifts containing support packages for the new school term to the children.

“Metro Istanbul belongs to Istanbulites”

Ozgur Soy, General Manager of Metro Istanbul, reminded that they have opened the doors of their compounds to Istanbulites with the activities they have organized since they took office, and said, “Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality belongs to the people of Istanbul… Metro Istanbul belongs to the people of Istanbul… These rail tracks, trains and stations belong to all of us. Moreover, we are a part of our region, our district, our neighbourhood. We said; Let this not be a forbidden zone where people pass by and do not know or see behind its walls. With this understanding, we opened our doors to you with various activities. We are very happy to host you here with organizations such as the Open Air Cinema Days we have organized in the summer months for the last two years, and the semester events we have organized during the semester holidays”.

“252 children from 30 districts participated”

Stating that as Metro Istanbul, they always give priority to children, General Manager Ozgur Soy said, “We thought about what we can do more for children this year, and after hard work, our summer school program emerged. We came together with our children during the summer in entertaining and educational activities consisting of 4 terms with 7-10 and 11-14 age groups. We had planned to have 25 people in each group, but as soon as we made the announcement, we reached the quota for our first group. After the intense interest from you, we increased this number to 47 in some periods. While organizing our summer school program, we did not forget the mothers. While their children participated in fun and educational activities, mothers who wanted to stay with us had the opportunity to spend time in artistic and educational activities. This year, we had a very enjoyable summer with our 252 children and their mothers from 30 districts of Istanbul in our Esenler compound”.

We organised special events for mothers

"Metro Istanbul Summer School" program attracted great attention and consisted of 4 terms of 2 weeks each, where we provided various trainings to the children with in collaboration with ISTAC, Istanbul Fire Department and Spor Istanbul. Activities included Recycling Workshops where children reused waste materials, Istanbul Fire Department provided fire safety training and search and rescue simulation with K9 dogs and Spor Istanbul provided trainings and equipment support for Aikido, basketball, volleyball, athletics, badminton as well as chess, cartoon and cartoon training. In addition, we enabled children to meet the soil with the M-Farmer program we prepared in our orchard, which we created with our own means in our garden.

Along with the children, mothers also had the opportunity to attend activities such as face yoga, pot making, and marbling art free of charge and participate in seminars on Safe Internet for All and Healthy Eating in cooperation with the Institute Istanbul ISMEK.
