International Award For Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro

Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro, which was constructed by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has been awarded with the grand prize in “Infrastructure Design” field in AEC Excellence Awards, which is one of world’s significant architectural contests. Award ceremony is going to take place at Las Vegas Autodesk University on 19th November.

Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro has been awarded with the grand prize in Large Project classification in Infrastructure Design field in AEC Excellence Awards, which is known as one of the most prestigious sectoral contests in the world.

The contest was organised for the eighth time this year with the participation of 230 projects from 40 countries. Umraniye-Goztepe Metro, which is actualised by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, got the first place with its innovative and technological infrastructure. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s project outstripped “LaGuardia Airport Terminal B Replacement- Skanska Walsh Joint Venture” of USA “Afsluitdijk - Largest Dike of the Netherlands-Levvel - BAM, Van Oord, Rebel" of Netherlands.

Turkey has won the first place for the first time in AEC Excellence Awards contest that provides a ground to share Turkey’s innovative approach in technological and architectural fields with the rest of the world. Award ceremony is going to take place on 19th November Tuesday in Las Vegas Autodesk University.

UMRANİYE-ATASEHİR-GOZTEPE METRO LINE

Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro Line is 13 km long and includes 11 stations. Relevant metro line is expected to provide significant solutions to the transportation problems of the Anatolian side of the city. The line is going to reduce journey time in between Umraniye and Goztepe to 20 minutes and will serve 350 thousand people in daily basis.

Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro Line is going to provide services with Fully Automated Trains and stations will have screen doors for security purposes. Excavation works with four tunnel-boring machines (TBM) and the project is expected to be completed by 2022.

Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro project is one of the projects that were halted in the previous term. Works were restarted with the ceremony with the participation of the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem Imamoglu.

“AEC EXCELLENCE AWARDS CONTEST”

AEC Excellence Awards is one of the most prestigious sectoral contests of the world. Projects compete in BIM “Building Information Modelling” processes, infrastructure, superstructure design, and construction of the projects that use the most innovative technologies in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction.
