An emotional surprise for the train driver from Metro Istanbul 

Kemal Melemez, a Train Driver who has been working at Metro Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), for 23 years, was bid farewell to retirement by the applause, banners, flowers, and well-wishes from Metro Istanbul's General Manager Özgür Soy, the company's senior management, colleagues, and passengers after his final journey.

Metro Istanbul, the largest urban rail system operator in Turkey, bid farewell to its 23-year employee with applause as he embarked on his retirement journey. Kemal Melemez, who served as a Train Driver on the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line, completed his final journey amidst applause.
As the train approached Zeytinburnu station for the last time, an announcement was made on board: "Dear passengers, today we have a surprise for our train driver Kemal Melemez, who has been taking you home, to your loved ones, or to work for years. We thank Mr. Kemal for his contributions to Istanbul over the past 23 years, tirelessly serving the city during holidays and celebrations, and we wish him a pleasant retirement life with his loved ones. Have a good journey, Kemal Melemez."

Trabzonspor Supporter Train Driver Receives Jersey Signed by the Entire Team
Melemez, who emerged from the train cabin to the applause of the passengers on board, was greeted on the platform by General Manager Özgür Soy, the company's senior management, and colleagues with flowers, applause, and banners. In an emotionally charged event, General Manager Soy presented Melemez, who is from Trabzon and a Trabzonspor supporter, with a signed Trabzonspor jersey. Özgür Soy expressed gratitude to Kemal Bey for his dedication to Istanbul over the past 23 years, working day and night, during holidays and celebrations. He also mentioned that they did not want to leave him alone on his last journey and decided to accompany him with a surprise. As the Metro Istanbul family, they wished him a pleasant retirement life with his loved ones. 

"23 years were filled with beautiful memories."
Kemal Melemez, expressing his happiness in response to the surprise, said, "It's impossible not to be touched. I have spent nearly 23 years here, and they have all been filled with beautiful memories. I wish all my colleagues success in their work lives."
Following the speeches, Melemez, together with his colleagues and passengers, sang songs and performed a traditional dance called horon, accompanied by the sound of the kemenche and tulum (traditional musical instruments).
