A Mother’s Touch on the Metro

We celebrated our Mothers’ Day with an event that will be remembered with joy and happiness. As a part of our Metroya Anne Eli Değerse (If Mothers Operate Metro) campaign, we tried to create a Mother’s Day atmosphere by decorating one of our stations and one of our vehicles especially for this occasion in M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro Line. Esin Karakaya who is a stage actress who played the mother figure in the plays she performed in the station and the train, turned this campaign into an extraordinary event.
 
Passengers took it on with a surprise and excitement and a smile on their faces when the performer showed up cleaning the operating area, making yellow line announcements and holding up banners with mothers’ everyday warnings. Our passengers were delighted and thrilled by this surprising event and thanked the Metro Istanbul Officials for this organisation.
 
General Director of Metro Istanbul, Kasim Kutlu indicated that “the heaven lies beneath the feet of our mothers and they are to be treated with great respect not for just one day but every day. Keeping grandmothers within the family is so valuable for the future and our tradition of having grandparents within the family should be pursued”. Later on, Mr. Kutlu celebrated the Mother’s Day of all the mothers and presented flowers to Esin Karakaya on behalf of all the mothers.
